Storefront is a set of questions.
How do we create new kinds of Jewish spaces? How do we translate Judaism into the language of our day, in light of our own conditions? What matters to us in our lives? How should we live?
Storefront is an idea, not a program.
Storefront is the idea that synagogues matter and should continue to matter, though we know that we can’t stay the same. Storefront isn’t about membership, it isn’t about dues, it isn't even about Jewish continuity. Storefront is the idea that there is important wisdom and knowledge contained within Judaism, and we want it to be accessible to all. We’re looking to create a Judaism without physical, social, and psychological barriers to participation.
Storefront is where you are.
By bringing Jewish encounters beyond the walls of the synagogue, we create encounters that cohere with the lived experience of real people, Jewish and beyond. We explore the intersection between Jewish traditions and the broader philosophical context of our world. We punctuate the Jewish calendar, and the calendar of people’s lives, and help to create sustained relationships. We celebrate Shabbat and holidays with young families at natural points of gathering. We bring seekers together for relevant, highly accessible Jewish learning. We help you develop rituals for your life transitions like weddings and new babies that are meaningful and full of depth.
We share our community’s greatest resources--its people, warmth, and spirit.
